Our travels have taken us to a tiny little town in South East SA.
Penola.
Good friend R and I went looking at art exhibitions
in the Coonawarra area.
Various artist had showings in the wineries scattered around the district.
A great day,
sipping and tasting some of my favourite reds while we perused the paintings.
Not that I know much about either art or wine,
R helped me out.
Then onto the town of Penola for lunch
to the Coonawarra Station restuarant
absolutely delish
and
to the law unto only me had the best prawn pasta ever.
Here's where the plans started to fall apart
coz some shops
ie the ones we wanted to see were closed on Tuesdays.
Not Happy.
Someone was happy..........
.............. Sir .........no spending.
So a visit to the Mary Mackillop Centre happened,
well worth the visit and a highlight of the visit to Penola.
Mary Mackillops' Church |
The serene area around the Mary Mackillop centre |
A Special Lady indeed
Combine that with a stroll down Petticoat Lane and its a step back in time
Still getting over the fact that 13 ......13 lived in this tiny cottage |
Walking through the good room - you know the one only used for special visitors |
We are coming to the end of the SA visit to family and friends.
have to celebrate Sis Rs' birthday first.
Hook up with King R and Lady L
then we're off to the warmer climes of Qld.
Eventually.
How we get there will be a whole other story.
Depends on weather and whether some of the dirt roads are passable.
We just make the plans as we go,
love and appreciate the freedom we have.
Living the good life.
