Good reflexes make a good detour.
As chief navigator,
it should have gone like this.
I say
"Ok in the next 2ks we take a right turn".
Instead
It was a case of
"TURN RIGHT and NOW"
He did,
Good reflexes there Sir.
King R and Lady L did a great job following us.
The reason,
we wanted to find the Dandry Gorge in Timallallie National Park.
It's about 17ks from Baradine,
but we weren't coming that way,
we were coming down the Newell Highway from Narrabri.
Hence the detour.
This detour took us through the Pilliga Scrub
where we camped overnight.
And no we didn't get to meet the mythical Yowi.
We began to wonder what we'd come to see after driving on this rough and isolated road. |
The Gorge was beautiful.
An easy walk.
Across the top of the ridge where the sculputres were,
then a pretty walk along the basin of the gorge.

Well worth the dusty bumpy ride.
The Dandry Gorge is a place of aboriginal significance,
with a wide range of their cultural values present.
The artist depicted some of these in their sculptures.

Der Dee
Should have taken a pen and paper
and noted the sculptures makers and meanings etc,
or taken a photo of the explanation,
that would have been good.
The wildflowers along the walk had just started flowering
It will be amazing in a few weeks.
Yep a good detour.
Excellent driving Sir.
Gotta love a man who takes instructions well.
P.S. The Cafe Freckles in Baradine does a great lunch and coffee.
