The garden in the summer

Summer is making its presence felt
we have for Tassie had some pretty hot days.

The garden is holding up well.

OK  OK

it wasn't long ago when I was telling Hewey he could stop the rain.

But it is getting oh so dry now.

We keep the back garden lush using automatic sprinklers.

Do ponder the question of having so much lawn,
having to keep it green and having to water it throughout the summer.

But I insist.

Its a hangover from the farm days
when the paddocks around the farmhouse
towards the end of summer were scorched dry.

Where I worked hard to keep the garden/lawn lush and green,
( we had a good water supply )
It was our  little green oasis away from the heat and dust
gave us much needed and appreciated respite from it all.

This part of the garden is what we jokingly call the southern tiers,
is now tinder dry. Survival of the fittest down there.

Of course with summer taking its toll
am finding it hard to find flowers for inside plonking
so  am up to my usual trick  adding some real to fake.
Works a treat.

Exhibit A:- My plonking and Faking
