A trip down memory lane ....... think 2008
The excitement Sir, Rusty and I were going to a Cattle station.
We are farmers but this was a new experience
We travelled thousands of kilometers.
Along highways and byways.
On tar and on dirt.
Oh that red dust
it kicks up off the dirt roads.
As fine as talcum powder.
It gets into every nook and cranny in the Destiny (caravan).
First chore when we arrived
was me cleaning
Sir checking for spots
to stop any chance of the dreaded red dust
seeping into the van again.
It took some time but he succeeded.
One happy wife

Finally we arrived at the entrance.
Turned off the Highway.
And drove to the homestead.
Their driveway is rather long
it was 70 kilometers before we reached it.
The distances are long out here, beyond imagination.
The horizon seemed never ending.
We were loving this new adventure in this vast country of ours.
A highlight.
We got to experience a muster.
The Helicopters constantly buzzing overhead
the pilots dipping and weaving with great precision
and daring.
Guiding the cattle towards the yards to be processed.
Once they neared the holding yards,
Stockmen on horses were used to get them into the yards.
When the musters finished we have the chance to go for a ride in the helicopter.
Wo-ow
What an experience.
We were taken out on a bore run .
meaning a ride out to check the watering holes for the cattle.
A trip by car could take 2 to 3 hours over bone jarring rough roads.
In the helicopter it's a matter of 3/4 of an hour.
They use the helicopters as we would use our utes on the farm.

Enjoyed that trip down memory lane.
Such special memories.
Feel privileged to have had such a great outback station experience.
Rusty did too but
wisely decided to leave the mustering to the other dogs
Those cows were a tad bigger than the chooks he gets to muster!
